Same for me as well, though I am surprised it just comes in without any updates on the page saying: The decks are finished - not even showing printing proofs and other things. But, oh well, hope it turns out good! (and no drama).

These came out wonderfully. I really like these decks, except for the red one. The tuck kind of disappears in certain light. The blue is my favorite, and the green foiled is very nice as well. This was a well done, professional campaign from start to finish by RS. They have got this whole thing down to a science by now.
I haven't slept for ten days, because that would be too long.

EHEY You got your own website now!
Also, does the deck provides a list of names of who is who in the courts?

There isn't. 6 of them are listed on the kickstarter page and 6 aren't. However, their names are written behind them in the hieroglyphics.

From the KS:
Joh RA
Qoh sekmeht
Koh neferetum
Jos set
Qos nephythes
Kos anubis
(My autocorrect might have had some fun with those names)

Just like in the comments section, other backers are also disappointed to have smashed and dented decks too. I wouldn't pack no more than 4 decks inside a USPS small priority box.

So after looking at them a little closer, the names given on the KS page are in fact....wrong! The names are right, but they don't match the cards. KOH is Ra for example

That said, it's dangerous to go alone! Take this (use the koh as reference, not all are cards are listed in the image, but should give you an idea what to look for):

So, after quick searches on the web and through Wikipedia, cross-referencing the hieroglyphs names with the ones found on the back of the courts, I hereby present you the names of the deities featured in Gods of Egypt:

Ace of Spades: Scarab; the most prominent bug you would encounter in Egypt. It is the important symbol for the Egyptians
Jack of Spades: Khonsu; god of the Moon, son of Amun and Mut
Queen of Spades: Mut; the mother of the gods of Egypt
King of Spades: Amun; the mightiest god in Egypt and the father of the gods

Ace of Hearts: Cats with Ankh; cats are the most prominent animal for the Egyptians - it symbolizes the goddess Bastet. The Ankh is the symbol of life in ancient Egypt - the item held up by Anubis
Jack of Hearts: Nefertem; patron god of the Egyptian blue lotus flower
Queen of Hearts: Sekhmet; lioness headed god of war and healing
King of Hearts: Ra; god of the Sun

Ace of Clubs: Cobra and Scales of Justice; cobra is the specific species of snake that usually can be spotted in Ancient Egyptians, and it symbolized Apep, the monstrous snake that devours the Sun. The Scale of Justice is a tool used by Anubis to judge the soul of the afterlife to either go to heaven or hell - the heart of the person is scaled with the feather of justice
Jack of Clubs: Anubis; god of death, mummification, embalming, and the Underworld
Queen of Clubs: Nephthys; goddess of air and the daughter of Geb and Nut
King of Clubs: Set; god of storm and violence

Ace of Diamonds: Pharaoh's Mask; Pharaoh is the ruling person in the kingdom of ancient Egyptians. When a pharaoh died, he would be mummified and adorned a big mask made of solid gold - famous pharaoh is Tuthankhamun
Jack of Diamonds: Horus; the god of Sky and son of Osiris and Isis
Queen of Diamonds: Isis; goddess of motherhood
King of Diamonds: Osiris; god and ruler of the Underworld

The choices of deities for this deck is good, though could have picked ones who are well known (and maybe biased because I love animals) like Sobek, Bastet, Khnum, Thoth. I can see quite the family relations within the courts for each suits:
  • In Spades courts, Khonsu is the son of Amun and Mut. If you have watched "Night at the Museum 3", you would recognize Khonsu as the deity of the Moon in Ancient Egyptian.
  • In Hearts courts, Nefertem is the son, Sekhmet is the mother of Nefertem (husband is Ptah), while Ra is the grandfather, and the main deity of Egypt.
  • In Clubs courts, Set and Nephthys were husband and wife, until one day that Nephthys conceived Anubis, in which Set realized that his wife is having an affair with Osiris. I guess this is another motive other than jealousy for power.
  • In Diamonds courts, Horus is the son of Isis and Osiris. After Osiris was restored by Isis, she conceived Horus in secret. Horus sets off a course of vengeance against the death of his father and battle Set. During the battle, his eye was snatched off. Instead of restoring himself, he gives it to Osiris.
Isis and Osiris has that artistic freedom from the artist, like the alchemical symbol that is out of place and not in sync with Egyptian hieroglyphs, along with Osiris's portrayed with an extra spear.

I received mine and one deck was severely damaged. More concerning was that it wasn't that it was damaged in transit but that it was clearly put into the box damaged (everything else was fine, including the uncut tuck boxes). I contacted the creator and he is doing nothing about it and instead blaming on Gambler's Warehouse.

I will say that I am seeing more and more problems related to GW, I have had at least 3 orders mis=packed now and I am hearing from multiple projects that timelines are taking much longer for them than previously. I think their fulfilment business has grown too rapidly and they have not been able to scale with the same quality. Something for creators who are using them to consider and perhaps challenge them on.

Contact GW sales department through email. I talked with Eddie and Sarah. I let them know that the decks seem damaged before they were put into the box. Hopefully they are aware now and will let the people in the Fulfillment area know.

They are going to want to see pictures of the things that you have that are damaged. From now on I'm going to take a picture of every delivery that I have just in case something is messed up.

If I'm honest I don't really see the point. It was one deck and the cost for GW to ship it to me would be prohibitive and I don't need to put them through that. I was much more pissed off with the fact that the creator wanted nothing to do with it. Shouldn't be on me to contact GW and could have easily just offered me $10 or $15 compensation. Instead he loses a future backer of any project of his (for full disclosure, I backed for a brick, so good way to treat a valued customer). If anything I will contact GW just to let them know that their quality is slipping and that they might want to take a look at that.

I have to agree: this issue is on GW, but it's up to the creator to reach out to GW and make it right.

On another project that I received a month or two ago, three of the decks I received had been damaged. I notified the project creator, who took care of it in turn. Did GW eat the entire cost of shipping me the replacements? I don't know. Did the project creator? No idea. Nor should I have to. Nor do I want to. The project creator *did* take me up on my offer to send photos to send along to GW. I have to say, in all of my dealings with GW and with almost all of the project creators I back, on those rare occasions when something goes wrong (and, given how many projects I back, it's amazing how rare it is), they (GW and the project creators) are almost universally very cool about taking care of things so that I would be a happy customer. I have zero complaints because when all is said and done, I get what I pledged for.

...Except when you have a project creator like this. (Full disclosure: I did not back this specific project)

When a project creator shrugs and says, "not my problem," I'm done with that project creator.

The fact that you had a damaged deck is unfortunate, but no reason to be grumpy. The fact that the project creator told you to pound sand is absolutely reason to be grumpy. Grrr.

Edit: Too bad, too, because this is a nice looking deck, and I very nearly backed the campaign. I had been looking forward to future efforts from them. Now, not so much.

Edit, Part II: Don't feel bad about asking GW to make you whole regarding that one deck. Yes, when you look at it in terms of your particular shipment, it seems like it would be cost prohibitive for them to ship you out a replacement. But, in the grand scheme of things, your damaged deck is the exception for this project, not the norm, and *some* re-shipments are built into a project's budget. (This would be true for GW when they provide project creators with a quote, not just a competent project creator making their own budget.) I'm sure that Eddie and crew want you to feel like you can back projects they fulfill with full confidence. Your willingness to not trouble GW is admirable, but GW wants you to be happy, and re-shipping to you would just be a tiny part of fulfilling the project as a whole.

I had only one gold deck, it was damaged so of course I needed a replacement. Out of hundreds of decks delivered, this campaign was the 2nd time something was damaged. People shouldn't try to stuff decks inside a box too much.

So, I received my decks today, and I must say, I am totally thrilled!
photo_2021-07-10_00-38-42.jpg
This is the condition of the package it was in. Many layers of protection. The decks are placed in a box, then put inside a bag which is put into another bag!

photo_2021-07-10_00-38-46.jpg
photo_2021-07-10_00-38-48.jpg
All three decks are safe and sound! And the coin looked neat (and very shiny)

Having an unflap tuckbox is really an interesting acquisition! I can see everything the artwork laid on. I just wished I picked the blue one, since I like the soft touch paper

I noticed that the seal is very very sticky, it appear this is the kind of sticker that you can find in any official products, like those sticker to show authenticity

Because it is very sticky, it is very hard to remove the residue, and as well, it takes bits of the paper, so for this one…..
I have no choice but to break the seal

Now, from this post, this kind of seal is my biggest enemy :x
32DD0F1C-6779-4807-86AC-99B41D930558.jpeg

Also, when I opened the deck and pull out the flap, I found it really hard to do it slowly, and I ended up crumpling the tongue flap. Damn, the tuckbox is really tight X.X

The way I open my decks now is mostly retaining the cellophane as well as the seal as best as possible:
1. I search for any pull tab on the cello, and carefully peel it off, so I can easily preserve the shape
2. I jimmy the seal with a toothpick, and then slowly pinch and peel slowly the seal.

If the seal is not that sticky, or the deck is released recently, then I should be able to do this easily. But not all seals worked like that. Seals like the one I show you is something you can find on every official products (like BluRay discs) to show authenticity. Don't know what it is called, but this sticker is just very very sticky. It leaves a lot of glue residue, and bits of the tuckbox got peeled as well. So for this one, I have no choice but to break the seal. One example of seals that is very hard to be rescued is the James Bond deck. The seal is so fragile that I can't peel it off slowly.

It is too risky haha - like i said, the seal is just too sticky that it removes some of the tuckbox, and besides, what’s done is done hahaha
