Kinda cool they went for a full customization of their courts, hopefully this would be their standard faces afterwards

Pretty much my reactions as well. Maybe closer to:ICantShuffle wrote:Not going to lie, I was like "Hey, these actually look pretty decent, nice tuck. Even if printed by a lower tier printer, would consider backing..."
Then, I noticed the name "SVI Group" and I couldn't remember why, but immediately my Spider Sense was like "DANGER, WILL ROBINSON, DANGER."
There are producers and artists that we've had disagreements with, but we're still respectful of them because we're respectable, respectful people. These guys, they don't mess around, and I'm not one to throw around the B-word as seems to be all the rage these days, but they do fit the bill for online bullying/harassment. No matter how good your designs are, I will not reward that kind of behavior with my business.

I have not been collecting for near as long as MagikFingers, but I do have a fairly large collection. I am to the point where I go all in on some stuff, get one or two of some others and just am learning to not go for several others....I've started having more empathy for my wallet in my later collecting years.

Their actions on this forum should hold you back way more than your wallet...Bradius wrote:It is not so much the SVI or the chosen printer, but this that is holding me back..

The courts are okay, but not so much. I do really like the Jack of Clubs expression (great job on that one). The color combination isn't doing much for me (too dark maybe). The pips are not exceptional. Font choice is nice. The tucks are a bit dark, but look great. The Classic back looks nice, but would be better as full bleed. The Art back just doesn't look great to me with that color combination. Maybe it is me. It just isn't forcing me to have to back it or I feel I am missing out on something really special.
I am passing as well.

Well, I need to make a distinction between the artist and the "security team" people. Obviously the guys who did the hack "fishing" attack and tried to extort money were not fighting a fair fight when they decided to go after people here, since I am a retired network security officer for the government, but they are not the same people doing the deck design and artwork.Bradius wrote:I tend to selectively forget bad stuff. I went back and tried to find some old threads on "SVI". I went back too far, then hit the thread on Caribbean Wind.![]()
I mean he got banned by Mike. That takes some serious effort. My apologies to those assaulted by this group.

Honestly I like these, albeit the font used for indices is certainly not my favorite. The artists should not suffer for something that was clearly outside their influence. When I checked behind this mess I found out that the "security" people had essentially stolen finished decks from the company. I figure there is no love lost between them and the design team.

I was just going to share my thoughts but, DAMN, now I will have to look back and see what kind of drama I have been missing! Also, I love this forum so far. Some great insight into groups that should not have my support, whether they have a great deck design or not. Keep in mind y'all that the actions of most serious nature committed by people of the SVI group were done privately through multiple anonymous accounts - at least 4 that we've been able link to them here at UC (all of which have been permanently banned) and 1 or 2 others that raised suspicion - along with others outside of this forum on other social media platforms. Prior to the particular incidents of the 'Caribbean Wind' thread that lead to their banning, they had a pattern of jumping quickly to hostility in response to criticism which often lead to personal attacks, but never anything as serious as cyber attacks attempted here and elsewhere.BaconWise wrote:I was just going to share my thoughts but, DAMN, now I will have to look back and see what kind of drama I have been missing! Friends,
with great regret that we inform you about the circumstances that have developed around the Crown Jewels decks. After a spot check of the sealed decks, we found a manufacturing defect on parts of the circulation. Inaccuracy during the cutting of the deck, you can see it in the photo.
Based on this, we in no case cann't allow such decks to fall to you. We made decisions to stop the shipment and recall the parcels that have not yet left the countries arrived. Since 30 packages have already left the territory of the sending country, 30 backers will receive these decks. But don't worry. Now we are deciding the issue of reprinting the circulation, and we will send you additional, new high-quality decks. We ask for forgiveness and your understanding, and many thanks for the extra patience waiting for your decks. We will inform about the stages of printing the new edition and the beginning of sending the reprinted edition in the near future.
In connection with the problem, SVI Group decided to change the printer for further work. Most likely, the next project of SVI Group will be released jointly with the company Cartamundi, with which we are actively negotiating.
