I saw Ant-Man and the Wasp twice. The director for both films is very good at keeping a consistent pace of entertainment. Both movies lacked 'slow' parts. 5/5 for me. There's a mid-credits scene and a post-credits scene.

The post-credits scene was the most useless one yet, though. Really shows the hole they've dug themselves in with the post-credits scene expectancy people now have.

Trailers for Titans, Godzilla: The King of Monsters, Aquaman, and Shazam were released during San Diego Comic Con this weekend.

Titans looks good except for Starfire. These aren't your Teens anymore. Cyborg is a member of the Justice League, so there's no reason to expect his appearance in this show.

The Godzilla plot exposition in the trailer doesn't make sense, BUT, it LOOKS good.

The Aquaman trailer looks great. I don't want to support Warner Bros anymore for what they did to Zack Snyder and Justice League, but this might be a must-see movie in theaters.

Shazam looks perfect. I read the New 52 tie-ins with him and the Justice League, and it looks like they're bringing that story to life. Ditto to the sentiment above.

They (Director Wan) are/is doing it in a way to make it look like you're actually filming underwater, and I think it looks good. I have come to terms with the fact that a movie based underwater, in a fantasy land, will be heavy on the CGI.

Where Wonder Woman failed was the garbage CGI "final battle". 2 hours of a GREAT movie was tempered to "good" because of such a let-down in the last 20 minutes. Very, very poor choice.

It's also expected to have some horror elements involving The Trench. That's very intriguing.

Well, I'm done with Warner Bros DC movies. They are moving on from both Henry Cavill as Superman and Ben Affleck as Batman, to focus on Supergirl and Batgirl. They're also considering hiring a black actor (Michael B. Jordan specifically) to play the next Superman. There are a LOT of characters that you can hire black actors and actresses for, but Superman isn't one of them...

I am so thoroughly disappointed and depressed about this.

You know what? Under most circumstances, I can handle Superman being any ethnicity and I don't care. However, they've had these actors in for a few movies now, and they are decent enough at what they're doing, I'd like to see THESE actors in a GOOD movie. Give me that.

The problem isn't the actors, or whether they are boys or girls or ethnic minorities or honkies.

No, the problem is THE EFFING SCRIPT and THE EFFING CGI.

Change actors all you want. Change sex and ethnicity all you want. If the script still sucks and the third act looks like a video game, it won't effing matter. It's still going to suck. Except, then they'll blame women or minorities.

Here's how Warner Brothers fixes the DC Cinematic Universe (or whatever it's called):

Put Patty Jenkins in charge of the whole thing.

Keep the actors they have, to the extent that they can.

And give her a blank check for actors, screen writers, and directors EXCEPT, cut her CGI budget in half.

That is all.

There are a LOT of characters that can be cast as minorities and it won't make a difference, but for me, Superman is one of those that wouldn't work for me.

As for Patty, well, the only movie she's directed that I've seen is Wonder Woman, and is wasn't perfect. She's only directed 4 movies that I can tell, and that's not a lot to go off of.

I personally think that the Snyderverse would have been awesome. He catches flak for Dawn of Justice, despite the fact that he didn't write any of that movie. He wrote Wonder Woman and Justice League. He gets a lot of BS for being a great "visual director". Well, guess what comic books are? Visual. He's a master at bringing comic panels to the big screen. I'll never forgive WB/DC for firing him. Cavill, Affleck, Mamoa, Miller, Fisher, they all sing his praises. I love Man of Steel and the Director's Cut of Batman v Superman. I love the Director's Cut of Watchmen.

How are you going to 'kill off' the 2 biggest names in the Justice League, and then continue to make movies of the other 4 with the same actors/actresses in seemingly the same continuity..? HOW?

The entire DC Worlds or whatever is complete garbage now. If they kept the 2 biggest icons in comic book history with them, they'd still have a chance. They're allegedly throwing the entirely of Superman's character away because it won't fit Supergirl's origin. Again... HOW?

My mind is blown...

Marvel Studios wins. They started with a 2nd-rate hero in Iron Man. DC has the 2 biggest icons in comic books and they can't even get it right. The 2 biggest freaking names in Batman and Superman. People see the movies JUST BECAUSE OF THAT. Kevin Feige wins. The DC film franchise is dead in the water at this point. It's so bad that Marvel Studios doesn't have any competition. It took them 10 years, but now they have officially won. It's great, I LOVE the MCU, but I also love DC comics and would love to see 2 great cinematic universes. Hopefully they don't breathe a sigh of relief just because DC sucks lol.

Edit: I know that I take this way too seriously... But... I've seen Infinity War at least 75 times already, so that's how much I care about these movies being done well...

Speaking of ethnicity change, Idris Elba should be the next James Bond. Here is how you solve the whole problem.

Idris enters M's office...

M-"Welcome to the 00 program Mr. Bond."

Idris, looks puzzeled, "My name isn't Bond."

M- "Yes it is. There has always been a James Bond, a 007. There always has been and there always will be. Now have a seat Mr. Bond and we'll begin".

Boom. Sean Connery, Roger Moore, Pierce Brosnan, Daniel Craig etc. all accounted for. Let's make it happen, people.

Considering how many reboots, crisises (what's the plural of crisis?) the DCU has done and how they've used the Flash to overcome some of the pesky continuity problems, they could just have rebooted the DCU with new actors like the MCU/Fox did with X-men and Spidey.

Or do what Marvel did, bring the focus to some of the minor cast while taking time to build on the big trinity. Heck, just do a Big Trinity movie and then reboot!

SUPER DUPER SPOILER ALERT:

YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.

Avengers: Annihilation trailer is expected to be released on Wednesday, November 28th.

A reliable source has mentioned that among the time-travelling shenanigans to be revealed in this movie, there will be a troubling decision for Tony Stark to make. Save his parents from the "hit" put out on them, or save the timeline in which his daughter is born. A truly "mind-blowing" concept, if true. It might also be a 3+ hour long movie.

As a former SiFi addict and very familiar with lots of time travel stories, that is interesting. If you have never read him, I consider AE Van Vogt the grandfather of time travel stories. His stuff is amazing, especially given how long ago he wrote his stuff.

It has to do with respect to the source material. What's the point of making a "Superman" movie if he/it is not actually based on Superman property?

FWIW, the Cavill "out" rumors were fictional. Some allege that Henry's agent put it out there for bloggers to run, in an effort to secure his spot as an A-list celebrity.

Also, Affleck wants another shot at Batman after clearing rehab (again). So DC's trinity could be remaining intact.

It's all about "defining characteristics."

Doctor Who's defining characteristics involve being a Time Lord alien who passes for human, hops through time and space, is curious and intelligent, is mostly pacifist, and can "regenerate" into different humanoid forms when the current one gets damaged beyond repair. Being Caucasian, male, or even speaking with a British accent are not mandatory, although that is typically how things have gone (with the occasional exception with regard to the accent). So, is it okay to have Jodi Whitaker play the Doctor? Yes.

James Bond's defining characteristics include that he is loyal to the British crown, he is a ruthless assassin, he is skilled in all manner of firearms and throwing knives, and he knows any day is likely to be his last, so he indulges his voracious appetite for women, alcohol, food, and cigarettes. "Men want to be him, and women want to be with him." So, yeah, you could have Idris Elba play him and that would be fine. But, you could not have Charlize Theron sport a Scottish accent and play Bond. Nope.

Nick Fury's defining characteristics include a fierce intelligence, a strong sense of what is right, a bias to action, and the loss of one eye. His eye patch is a defining characteristic. His skin color is not, even though he was always illustrated as Caucasian until the MCU cast Samuel L. Jackson (perfectly) to play the role in the movies.

What are Superman's defining characteristics? Again, he has super strength and super speed, a strong sense of what is right, a keen intellect, and can be mortally weakened by Kryptonite. He stands for Truth, Justice, and the American Way. His name says he's a Man. But, does he have to be white? He's traditionally been drawn that way. But, is that a defining characteristic? I'm not so sure.

There's a lot to be said for tradition, but there's still a difference between traditional representation and defining characteristic. (James Bond is considered Scottish by tradition, but he's been played as English, instead, by most Bond actors, including Roger Moore, so... is being Scottish a defining characteristic? Nope. But it's still considered a more traditional representation when he is Scottish.)

As such... I think that it's conceivably okay to cast Peter Parker as an African-American, but it is *not* okay to cast Miles Morales as Caucasian. I suppose that now that Miles Morales has been established as being black as part of his defining characteristics, maybe that means Peter Parker *has* to be white. But, I'm not sure. Peter Parker *does* have to be middle class, however.

It's an interesting idea to chew on.

Clark Kent is as much a white farm boy from Kansas as Miles Morales is a black man/teenager.

IMO you can't cast a black Clark Kent.

Avengers: Annihilation Official Trailer #1 will not be released tomorrow. It is being delayed (again) for Bush Sr.'s funeral.

Spider-Man: Far From Home Official Trailer #1 was going to debut on Friday, December 7th. That will also be pushed back because of this delay.
